Install from the official source
spotify.com for desktop, Google Play for Android, the App Store for iPhone and iPad. Skip any site offering a modified build or a "Premium unlock".
Sign in with your account
Email and password, Google, Apple, Facebook or a phone number. On a television the app shows a short code that you enter on your phone instead.
Set quality and downloads
Open Settings, Audio quality, and choose Lossless or Very High. Then switch on Offline Backup so recent listening survives a dead zone.

Genuine Spotify login pages live on open.spotify.com and accounts.spotify.com, and nowhere else. The service never asks for a password by email and never asks for a card to "confirm" a free account. If a page you reached from a search result asks for either, close it and type the address yourself.
